September 10: A divergent trend was witnessed in international coal markets on September 9 as South African prices softened a bit whereas Australian steam coal prices firmed up somewhat while Indonesian prices continued to remain soft, industry sources said.
South African coal prices softened by $0.60 per ton whereas the Australian material advanced by $0.65 per ton during the day compared to the September 6 levels, they said.
Indonesian prices remained on the softer side with 3,800 Kcal and 5,900 Kcal (GAR) prices softening by $0.20 per ton, but others remained unchanged.
