130 companies in the fray for 21 Schedule III mines

February 16: As many as 130 bids have been received for a total of 21 coal mines classified under Schedule III of the Coal Mines Ordinance offered for allocation through the auction route, an official release said.

Though bids for Utkal B1 and B2 blocks were not opened due to a court order, the highest number of 16 bids was received for Utkal C block followed by 13 bids for Gare-Palma IV/8 block.

A total of 11 bids were received for Jamkhani block whereas 10 bids each were received for Ganeshpur and Tara blocks, the release said.

The Ministry of Coal on February 15 (Sunday) opened technical bids, both online and off-line, in the presence of bidders for 21 Schedule III coal mines, the tender process for which was started on January 5, 2015, the release from the Ministry of Coal said.

In the first stage of the tender process, bidders submitted their technical bids on the MSTC portal created for the purpose. Bidders were also required to submit separately a sealed envelope containing bank guarantee, power of attorney and the affidavit. The cut-off date for submission of technical bids was February 14.

The electronic bids were decrypted and opened electronically in the presence of bidders and the entire process was displayed on the screen for the bidders.

Subsequently, sealed envelopes containing bank guarantee, power of attorney and affidavit were also opened in the presence of bidders.

The release said that the bids will be evaluated by a multi-disciplinary technical evaluation committee to shortlist bidders for participation in the electronic auction to be conducted on the MSTC portal from February 25, 2015.
