December 19: A cautious trend prevailed in international coal markets on December 18 as buyers opted to wait for a clear trend to emerge over prices even as Australian steam coal rates firmed up on restricted availability of cargo for spot loading, market sources said.
Reports of talks on contract finalisation in China and the meteorological department’s prediction of the possibility of Queensland experiencing rainfall above normal limits in January-March, 2015 affected overall sentiment by 35-40%.
