February 16: The Indian cement sector received 1.759 mt of coal during November 2014, up 30.78% from 1.345 mt received in October, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
During November 2014, out of the total coal received by cement companies, 0.555 mt was through their linkages with various subsidiaries of Coal India Limited (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). This figure (from linkages), however, stood slightly lower at 0.413 mt in October.
On the other hand, during September, cement companies had received 0.386 mt through linkages out of the total quantum, data revealed.
In addition to this, during November, 0.104 mt was procured from the open market, mainly via e-auction while the figure stood at 0.024 mt, 0.015 mt, 0.045 mt, 0.135 mt, 0.143 mt in October, September, August, July and June, respectively.
Lignite and pet coke receipts during November were at 0.035 mt and 0.521 mt, respectively while in October, these stood at 0.02 mt and 0.421 mt, respectively. The figures in September were at 0.003 mt and 0.405 mt, respectively.
Imported coal receipts by cement companies stood at 0.502 mt in November, 0.441 mt in October, 0.307 mt in September and at 0.369 tons, 0.357 tons and 0.324 tons during August, July and June, respectively.
