India’s imported coal stocks at 9 ports edge up w-o-w

February 16: India's imported coal stocks at nine ports – eight major and one private –stood at 8.252 million tons (mt) as on February 13, against a volume of 8.176 mt as on February 6, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

The overall inventories of imported coal at Indian ports as on February 13 edged up as coal stocks almost in all ports (monitored by ICMW) increased on a weekly basis.

As on February 13, coal stocks at Paradip Port increased slightly to 3.091 mt against a volume of 3.079 mt recorded on February 6. Of the total coal stocks at the port during the current week, steam coal’s share was at 1.755 mt, while coking coal’s share was at 1.336 mt against a volume of 1.735 mt and 1.344 mt respectively as on February 6.

Imported coal stocks at Mundra Port as on February 13 increased to 0.903 mt against a volume of 0.878 mt as on February 6. Of the total coal stocks at the port, coking coal increased significantly to 0.108 mt as on February 13 against a volume of 0.068 mt as on February 6 while steam coal depleted slightly to 0.795 mt as on February 13 against a volume of 0.810 mt as on February 6.

Imported coal inventories at Kolkata Port remained at their previous levels of 0.615 mt.

Coal stocks at Vizag Port as on February 13 stood at 1.200 mt, the same level as on February 6. But steam coal stocks at the port stood at 0.800 mt as on February 13, up from 0.650 mt as February 6 while coking coal depleted to 0.400 mt as on February 13 against a volume of 0.550 mt as on February 6.
