MAHAGENCO’s Dec coal imports at 306,000 tons

January 13: The receipt of imported coal by Maharashtra State Power Generation Co Ltd, popularly known as MAHAGENCO, during December 2014 stood at 306,000 tons while coal imports by the utility in the previous month stood at 206,000 tons, according to provisional data from CEA available with ICMW.

However, during December 2013, coal imports by MAHAGENCO stood at 237,000 tons, data revealed.

Total receipts of imported coal by MAHAGENCO during the first nine months of 2014-15 stood at 1,781,000 tons, up 6.39% compared to 1,674,000 tons received during the corresponding period of 2013-14, the data revealed.

The utility has been given a target to import 3,500,000 tons of steam coal in 2014-15.
