January 13: Imports of steam coal by National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) during December 2014 stood at 1,699,000 tons (revised by CEA), which was about 123% of the month’s target of 1,383,000 tons, as per provisional data of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) available with ICMW.
However, on a month-on-basis, December imports rose by 24.56% against November’s figure of 1,364,000 tons.
On the other hand, imports in December 2013 stood at 771,000 tons.
During the first nine months (April-December) of 2014-15, total coal imports by NTPC stood at 10,866,000 tons whereas the figure stood at 8,313,000 tons during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
