Oct steam coal imports via Gangavaram down 39% m-o-m

November 17: Steam coal imports via Gangavaram Port stood at 638,453 tons in October 2014, down almost 39.21% from 1,050,285 tons reported in September 2014, as per provisional information available with ICMW.  

During October 2013, steam coal imports via the port stood at 317,849 tons.

During the first seven months (April-October) of the current financial year of 2014-15, total steam coal imported through the port stood at 4,385,738 tons while the figure was at 3,610,646 tons during the corresponding period of 2013-14.

Following are the details of imports in 2014-15 and 2013-14 (in tons):

During October 2014, 178,616 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 4,337-Rs 5,216 ($70-$84) per ton, 189,688 tons from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 3,930-Rs 4,279 ($64-$69) per ton, 4,335 tons from Mozambique at a price of Rs 4,607 ($74) per ton while the balance 265,814 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 3,863-Rs 5,321 ($62-$85) per ton.

However, in September 2014, 69,600 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 4,351-Rs 4,458 ($70-$73) per ton, 109,087 tons came from Chile at a price of Rs 3,265 ($53) per ton, 174,799 tons from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,510-Rs 4,635 ($41-$76) per ton while the balance 696,798 tons came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,512-Rs 5,854 ($74-$95) per ton.
