Oct steam coal imports via Paradip spurt 177.60% m-o-m

November 26: The steam coal imports through the port of Paradip in October 2013 were at 452,887 against 163,140 tons recorded in September 2013, showing a spurt of 177.60%, according to revised provisional data for both the months available with ICMW.
With this, steam coal imports through the port during the first seven months of FY'14 stood at 3,865,715 tons against 4,667,189 tons reported in the same period last year.
Total steam coal imports during the entire financial year of 2012-13 stood at 7,349,688 tons.

In October, 375,358 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,569-Rs 6,027 ($41-$97) per ton and the balance 75,548 tons came in from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 5,460 ($87).
During September, however, the entire material came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,589-Rs 5,469 ($41-$81).
