Pet coke exports via Chennai flat m-o-m in Sept

October 25: Calcined petroleum coke exports through Chennai port were flat at a mere 2 tons in September 2013, the same quantum that was exported in August 2013, as per provisional information available with ICMW.

As in August, in September too, this small consignment was headed for Oman at a unit price of Rs 32,918 per ton ($65,836).

In August, the unit price was Rs 31,947.

Coal handling at Chennai port has been suspended since October last year following a ban imposed by the Madras High Court on handling of dirty cargo of coal and iron ore at the port with effect from October 1, 2011.

The court order came following the hearing of a public interest litigation (PIL). However, old stocks are getting cleared at the port.
