RPower Q3 net profit slips 4.86% on higher expenses

16 Feb 2015

February 16: Reliance Power Limited (RPower), one of the private sector power generators in India, reported a 4.86% drop in the consolidated net profit for the third quarter (October-December) of 2014-15 to Rs 254.44 crore against Rs 267.22 crore reported in the same quarter of the previous fiscal, the company said in a filing to the BSE on February 14.

Higher expenses in operations and power and fuel affected the net profit during the quarter under review.

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, however, the company’s net profit rose from Rs 253.07 crore in the July-September quarter.

In the first nine months of the current fiscal, the company’s net profit fell to Rs 751.86 crore from Rs 757.78 crore earned in the same period of previous fiscal, the company statement added.

During the third quarter of 2014-15, the company’s total income from operations increased to Rs 1,731.51 crore compared to Rs 1,372.61 crore reported in the same period of the last financial year.

During the quarter under review, the entire capacity of the Sasan ultra mega power project in Madhya Pradesh (3,960 MW) became operational.
