SA coal exports to Atlantic nations up 44% in Aug m-o-m

October 8: Imports of coal from South Africa’s Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) by Atlantic countries rose 44.3% in September 2014 compared to the volumes imported during the previous month where almost 55% of South African coal was exported to the western countries during the month of which about 27% went to ARA, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

Exports through RBCT to Atlantic countries stood at 3,616,147 tons in September 2014 against 2,505,926 tons recorded during August 2014.

On the other hand, in September 2013, the export figure stood at 1,732,875 tons.

During the first nine months (January-September) of 2014, total coal exports to Atlantic countries stood at 16,562,771 tons whereas the figure was at 12,796,942 tons during the corresponding period of the previous year.

On the other hand, during FY2013-14, total imports stood at 26,253,834 tons as compared to 26,064,273 tons imported during FY2012-13.
