SA’s Jan coal exports to Atlantic nations fall 17% m-o-m

February 12: Exports through South Africa’s Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) to Atlantic countries stood at 2,979,068 tons in January 2015, down 17.42% from 3,607,583 tons recorded during December 2014.

Meanwhile, in January 2014, the export figure stood at 1,739,665 tons.

Imports of coal from RBCT by Atlantic countries stood at 25,906,060 tons during 2014, up 26.81% from 20,428,501 tons recorded during 2013, as per data.

On the other hand, during FY2013-14, total imports stood at 26,253,834 tons as compared to 26,064,273 tons during FY2012-13.
