TNEB’s September coal imports above target

October 24: Imports of steam coal by Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) in September 2014 stood at 668,000 tons, which was 178% above the month’s target of 375,000 tons, according to data available with ICMW.

On a month-on-basis, the September import figure was 52.86% higher than 437,000 tons imported in August and 65.76% higher compared to 403,000 tons imported in September 2013.

The utility’s total coal imports during the first six months of 2014-15 stood at 4,041,000 tons, up more than 53.36% compared to 2,635,000 tons during the same period of 2013-14.
