Anthracite coal imports via Kolkata up manifold in Oct m-o-m

November 11: Anthracite coal imports through the port of Kolkata stood at 10,931 tons in October 2013 against 1,008 tons recorded in September 2013, showing a manifold increase, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

With this, anthracite coal imports from Kolkata stood at 61,593 tons in the first seven months of the current fiscal, whereas the figure was at 45,864 tons in the corresponding period in the previous fiscal.

During the same month last year, the imports stood at 816 tons.

Following is the break-up of anthracite coal imports via Kolkata port in 2012-13 & 2013-14:

In October 2013, 9899 tons arrived from Ukraine in a price band of Rs 10,310 –Rs 11,538 ($161-$185) per ton and 10,32 tons arrived from China at a unit price of Rs 28,183 ($441).

In September, 2013, the entire amount arrived from China at a price range of Rs 27,426-Rs 28,754($412-$451).
