May 11: Steam coal imports through the port of Kandla stood at 851,517 tons in April, up 7.11% from 794,989 tons imported in March, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports of steam coal through the port during April 2014 stood at 430,014 tons.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Kandla Port in 2015-16 and 2014-15:

In April, 50,392 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 5,527-Rs 8,202 ($88-$130), 395,738 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 1,950-5,327($31-$85) per ton, 186,939 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 3,461-Rs 5,906 ($55-$93) per ton and balance 218,448 tons came from United States at a price range of Rs 5,748-Rs 6,001($91-$95) per ton.
In March, 8,000 tons were imported from Australia at a price range of Rs 6,225-Rs 6,245 ($99) per ton 381,500 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 1,950-Rs 4,963 ($31-$79) per ton, 329,906 tons arrived from South Africa at a price range of Rs 3,359-Rs 5,959 ($53-$95) per ton and balance 75,583 tons came from United States at a price range of Rs 5,982-Rs 6,84 ($95-$102) per ton.
