Aug coking coal imports via Mormugao drop 58% m-o-m

September 30: Coking coal imports through the port of Mormugao fell 57.86% to 69,078 tons in August 2014, against a quantum of 163,934 tons reported in July, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In August 2013, the volume of coking coal imports through the port stood at 355,184 tons.
In the first five months (April-August) of the current financial year (2014-15), coking coal imports through the port stood at 1,843,503 tons as against 355,184 imports recorded during the same period of 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Mormugao in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In August 2014, the entire quantity came from Australia at a price of Rs 8,697 ($143) per ton while during July 2014, a volume of 85,504 tons of coking coal came in from Australia at a price of Rs 8,850 ($147) per ton whereas the balance 78,430 tons came in from Canada at a price of Rs 7,551 ($124) per ton.
