January 20: Spot prices of Australian steam coal firmed up in an otherwise lacklustre international coal market on January 19 where prices remained largely unchanged, market sources said.
The continued firmness in Australian steam coal prices, which had gained by $3 per ton since the beginning of 2015, was attributed largely to speculative activities even as actual transactions at current prices were limited to a few, they said.
