Mining company BHP says it has increased its projected production from its Queensland coal operations.
The company has reported record coal production of 33 million tonnes during the first nine months of the financial year.
In a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange, BHP says metallurgical coal production was up 24 per cent on the same period a year earlier.
March quarter production this year jumped 28 per cent over the 2013 quarter.
It is now forecasting to produce 43.5 million tonnes of metallurgical coal for the year, up 2.5 million tonnes from previous estimates.
CEO Andrew Mackenzie says improved productivity across the operations and the ramp up of the Daunia mine, near Moranbah, contributed to the record results.
