Birla Corp Q1 cement production up 11% y-o-y

August 11: Birla Corporation Limited, the flagship company of the M P Birla Group, said on August 8 that the company’s cement production during the April-June quarter of 2014-15 increased by 11.32% to 2.045 million tons (mt) against 1.837 mt in the same period of 2013-14.

During the quarter under review, the company’s cement despatches too increased by 11.74% to 2.056 mt against 1.869 mt despatched in the same period of the last financial year, a company statement said.

Meanwhile, according to the statement, the company’s blending unit at Rae Bareli, with an annual capacity 0.5 million ton per annum (mtpa), is expected to be commissioned by the first quarter of financial year 2015-16 while environmental clearance was obtained for the second phase expansion of the New Chanderia Cement Works from 1.2 mtpa to 2.7 mtpa.

“However, the project (New Chanderia Cement Works) will be executed once the pollution clearance for additional limestone mining is received,” the statement said.
