CIL contributed Rs 35,600 cr to state exchequer in FY’13

November 4: Coal India Ltd (CIL), which takes care of 40% India’s primary energy needs, has paid Rs 35,600 crore to the government in 2012-13, Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal said.

Addressing the 39th Coal India Ltd (CIL) Foundation Day in Kolkata on November 1, the minister said, “CIL is one of the largest contributors to the state exchequer. In 2012-13, the company made a total contribution of Rs 35,600 crore in the form of royalty, cess, taxes and duties, corporate tax, dividend, divided tax etc.”

He further said the company occupies the pride of place in the energy matrix of the country and holds the key to high growth of the economy.
