CIL opens NIT to enlist agency for coal imports

March 6: Coal India Limited's much-awaited notice inviting tender (NIT) for enlistment of an agency to procure imported steam coal for supplies to power plants opened today.

The company had extended the last date for submission of bids to March 6 from February 27 after it brought in five minor changes in the original tender floated in January.

Officials of MMTC, STC, PEC and MSTC, who were eligible to participate in the tender, refused to say whether they participated this time or not.

These companies did not participate in CIL's tender floated in November 2013, citing some difficult terms and conditions imposed in the document.

A senior CIL official said, "We have received bids from government agencies this time, but I have not gone through the exact numbers till now."
