June 18: Despatches by Coal India Ltd (CIL) stood at 40.67 million tons (mt) during May 2014, up 0.42% from 40.50 mt recorded in April 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In May 2013, the despatches stood at 38.23 mt.
Of the total despatches during the month of May 2014, those to the priority sectors or power, steel, cement (including captive power plants) and fertilisers stood at 30.15 mt, 0.53 mt, 0.39 mt and 0.22 mt respectively.
The company had despatched 28.61 mt, 0.59 mt, 0.45 mt and 0.22 mt, respectively to the power, steel, cement and fertiliser sectors in May 2013.
