Coal India aims to be ‘litigation free’ entity by 2020

30 Nov 2015

November 27: Coal India Ltd (CIL) is aiming to become a “litigation free" corporate entity by undertaking review of its pending court cases for possible out-of-court settlement and putting in place a robust mechanism to pre-empt legal cases in future.

Under this initiative, which is part of the company’s HR Vision 2020, review of court cases for out-of-court settlement will be done by December 31, 2015.

The other major aspects of the policy are thus: Development of a mechanism for dealing with cases involving public sector units (PSUs), revision of the policy of empanelment of advocates, performance monitoring system for advocates and policy on appeal.

Sources said that the mining subsidiaries of CIL are working on preparing their own road maps to achieve the aforesaid objective.
