Coal handling at Paradip port up 12.57% in Oct m-o-m

November 28: Coal handling at Paradip port moved up 12.57% to 2,302,038 tons during the month of October 2013 compared to 2,045,000 tons in the month of September, a senior port official told ICMW on November 28.

However, coal handled at the port fell during October 2013 by 5.97% against 2,448,272 tons in October 2012.

Out of the total quantity handled during October 2013, imported coking coal's share stood at 484,663 tons while imported thermal and domestic thermal coal accounted for 321,247 tons and 1,496,128 tons, respectively.

During the first seven months (April-October) of 2013-14, total coal handling at the port stood at 18,316,038 tons compared to 13,855,814 tons in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
