Coal handling at Vizag port up 32.58% m-o-m in Sept

October 31: Coal handling at Vizag port surged by 32.58% to 826,000 tons in September 2013 compared to 623,000 tons in August, according to a compilation by the Indian Ports Association (IPA).

Out of the total coal handled at Vizag port in August 2013, thermal coal accounted for 166,000 tons while coking coal stood at 660,000 tons, as per the compilation.

However, coal handling in August 2013 was also up by 21.47% as compared with 680,000 tons in September 2012, as per the data.

The total coal handled at the port during the first six months (April-September) of 2013-14 stood at 4,886,000 tons while during the previous financial year (2012-13), the figure stood at 4,993,000 tons.
