Coal handling falls 10.45% m-o-m at Haldia Dock in Sept

October 30: Coal handling by Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) of Kolkata Port Trust fell 10.45% in September 2013 to 651,000 tons, as compared to 727,000 tons in August 2013, a senior official of the Kolkata Port Trust told ICMW.

Of the total handling in September 2013, domestic coal accounted for 127,000 tons while the remaining 524,000 tons was imported coal, both coking (424,000 tons) and non-coking (100,000 tons), he said.

He further said that in September 2012, the dock had handled a total of 442,000 tons of coal.

Total coal handled by the port during the first six months of 2013-14 stood at 5,253,000 tons compared to 4,552,000 tons handled during the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
