Coking coal imported via Karaikal in Dec after 3 months

Coking coal was imported via Karaikal Port after a gap of three months in December 2015 and the volume stood at 48,975 tons. There were no imports of coking coal from September –November, 2015 via the port. In August, the same stood at 62,685 tons, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

 

Total imports for the first nine months (April –December) of the current financial year stood at 139,160 tons while the same was at 20,853 tons in the same period of the previous year.

In December 2015, a volume of 21,143 tons came from Australia at Rs 6,246 (93) per ton while further details of the remaining 21,143 tons were not available.


In August, the entire amount came from Australia at a price range of Rs 6,940-Rs 7,270 ($108-$111) per ton.
