Coking coal imports via Kandla almost double in Feb

March 13: Coking coal imports through the port of Kandla stood at 23,500 tons in February 2014, almost double from 11,500 tons reported in January 2014, as per information available with ICMW.
Imports of coking coal through the port during the first 11 months (April-February) of FY'14 stood at 302,372 tons against 297,979 tons during the same period last year.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Kandla:

During February 2014, 16,000 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 10,046-Rs 12,782 ($160-$203) per ton while the rest of 7,500 tons came from Mozambique at a price range of Rs 9,598-Rs 10,109 ($152-$161) per ton.
However, in January 2014, 2,500 tons came from Australia at a price of Rs 10,925 ($176) per ton while 9,000 tons came from Mozambique at a price range of Rs 9,506-Rs 10,088 ($152-$162) per ton.
