Coking coal imports via Mundra up 65.06% m-o-m in October

November 21: Coking coal imports through Mundra port during the month of October 2013 rose 65.06% to 130,202 tons from 78,880 tons recorded in September 2013, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
On a y-o-y basis, however, coking coal imported via Mundra port declined 34.07% compared to 197,496 tons recorded in the same month last year (October 2012).
Total imports of coking coal through Mundra port in the first seven months (April-October) of 2013-14 stood at 655,796 tons against 852,647 tons recorded in the same period of the previous financial year.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Mundra port in 2012-13 and 2013-14 (in tons):

During October 2013, 121,502 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 5,783-Rs 9,432 ($93-$151), 5,000 tons came from Indonesia at a price of Rs 8,637 ($138) per ton while 3,700 tons came from Mozambique at a price of Rs 5,393 ($87) per ton.
However, in September 2013, 68,880 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 6,230-Rs 10,446 ($99.00-$155.91), 5,000 tons came from Indonesia at Rs 9,251 ($ 138.08) per ton while 5,000 tons came from Mozambique at Rs 5,582 ($88) per ton.
