Daqin Aug coal transport down 11.9% y-o-y

Daqin line, China’s major coal-dedicated rail line, transported a total 33.63 million tonnes of coals in August, dropping 11.86% from the year prior -- the 12th consecutive year-on-year decline, and also down 2.16% from July, showed the latest data on September 6.
The August transport volume missed its monthly target by 8.1%, data showed.
In August, Daqin’s daily coal transport averaged 1.09 million tonnes, 2.16% lower than the month prior.
Over January-August this year, Daqin accomplished a coal transport volume of 273.83 million tonnes, down 9.3% on year., accounting for 65.2% of its annual target for 2015, which was set at 420 million tonnes.
In addition, Houyue line transported 8.15 million tonnes of coal in August, down 12.67% on year, yet up 7.62% on month, accounting for 87.3% of its monthly target.
Over January-August, total coal transport by Houyue line amounted to 54.28 million tonnes or 67.9% of the annual target, down 6.1% on year.
