January 9: December 2014 steam coal imports through the port of Kakinada spurted to 836,211 tons against 121,737 tons in November, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports in December comprised 108,643 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 4,527 – Rs 4,663 ($71-73) and 179,445 tons from South Africa in a band of Rs 4,205 – Rs 5,234 ($64-82) per ton and 548,123 tons from other sources whose details are currently unavailable.
Imports in November comprised 65,244 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 4,236 – Rs 4,319 ($68-70) and 56,493 tons from South Africa in a band of Rs 4,290 – Rs 4,697 ($69-76) per ton.
