April 07: The G8 grade coal (GCV range 4,901-5,200 Kcal/kg) offered by two subsidiaries of Coal India (CIL) met with extremely poor demand in March auctions on coaljunction platform.
There was no bid for offerings from Giridih and Murpar UG mines and the total allotment stood at mere 19,720 tons at weighted average price of Rs 2,440 per ton as against the offering of 60,200 tons during the month.
In February, a strong demand was witnessed for this grade coal as the entire offered quantity of 37,700 tons was allotted at weighted average price of Rs 2,390/ton.
In January auction too on coaljunction, G8 grade coal offered by three subsidiaries of CIL had met with good demand. The quantity offered during the month stood at 1,58,200 tons while the total allotted quantity stood at 1,30,830 tons. The weighted average price of the allotted quantity during the month stood at Rs 2,187/ton.
