January 21: The firm trend witnessed in Australian steam coal continued into January 20 as prices inched up further and this appears to have prompted South African miners too to firm up offers, market sources said.
While Australian steam coal prices gained by $0.55 per ton from January 19 levels at $68.25 per ton, prices of South African coal gained $0.60 per ton (for 6,000 Kcal/kg NAR) and $0.75 per ton (for 5,500 Kcal/kg) during the day.
Indonesian prices remained largely unchanged even as a slight weakness was witnessed in some categories on low bids, they said.
