May 5: A sharp rise in the offered quantity appears to have affected realisations for G4 grade coal (GCV between 6,101 and 6,400 Kcal/kg) in the month of April.
The offered quantity in April rose to 165,890 tons, of which 61,064 tons got allotted, from a low of 37,380 tons in March at a weighted average price of Rs 3,879 per ton against Rs 6,228 per ton in March.
However, out of the offered quantity of 157,204 tons of G4 grade in February, 129,936 tons were allotted at a weighted average price of Rs 4,842 per ton.
