May 5: Strong demand was witnessed for G7 grade (GCV ranging from 5,201 to 5,500 Kcal/kg) coal offered by three subsidiaries of CIL – NCL, CCL and SECL – on coaljunction in April, but the weighted average price dipped sharply.
However, fair demand was witnessed for G7 grade coal offered by two subsidiaries of CIL – WCL and SECL – on coaljunction in March.
The total offering in April was 301,950 tons as compared to 38,750 tons in March and the allotted quantity stood at 269,216 tons from 37,020 tons in the previous month.
The weighted average price slipped to Rs 2,383 from a high of Rs 2,909 per ton.
The sharp decline in the weighted average price in April was largely on account of significantly enlarged offerings, ICMW understands.
In February, there was moderate demand for G7 grade offered by subsidiaries of CIL for allotment through the coaljunction platform as out of the offered quantity of 40,000 tons of coal, 30,000 tons got allotted at a weighted average price of Rs 5,750 per ton.
