April 07: A fair demand was witnessed for G7 grade (GCV ranging from 5,201 to 5,500 Kcal/kg) coal offered by two subsidiaries of CIL – WCL and SECL – on coaljunction platform in March, but the weighted average price dipped sharply.
The total offering in March was 38,750 tons as compared to 40,000 tons in February and the allotted quantity stood at 37,020 down from 30,000 tons in previous month.
The weighted average price slipped to Rs 2909 per ton from a high of Rs 5,750 per ton.
The sharp decline in weighted average price in March was largely on account of significantly reduced offering, ICMW understands.
In January, there was a moderate demand for G7 grade coal offered by subsidiaries of CIL for allotment through the coaljunction platform as out of the offered quantity of 1,17,800 tons of coal, 84,990 tons got allotted at a weighted average price of Rs 2,744 per ton.
