Imports of coking coal via Gangavaram Port stood at 506,535 tons in January 2016, marginally down 0.81% month-on-month compared to 510,667 tons imported in December 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
For the first ten months (April-January) of the current fiscal (2015-16), coking coal imports via the port stood at 4,808,389 tons while 3,892,234 tons had been imported in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15).

In January 2016, out of the entire volume of 506,535 tons, 363,557 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 5,099-Rs 7,693 ($76-$112) per ton, 64,875 tons from New Zealand at a price of Rs 6,219 ($91) per ton and 78,103 tons from the US at a price of Rs 6,465 ($96) per ton.
In December 2015, the entire volume of 510,667 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 5,227-Rs 6,693 ($78-$100) per ton.
