Eastern Railway achieved its highest-ever loading of freight traffic in November this year. It succeeded in loading 5.16 million tonne (mt) of freight traffic in comparison to 4.66 mt loaded in the corresponding month last year, thus registering a growth of 10.76%. 

 

Out of this, coal itself amounted to 3.37 mt with other goods contributing around 1.79 mt. As a result of increased overall freight loading, Eastern Railway succeeded in earning Rs 393.43 crore during November 2013, posting a 28.96% increase in earnings from freight traffic over November 2012. 

 

Out of the total amount of freight earning during November 2013, coal amounts to Rs 264.12 crore with a growth of 33.49% with other goods amounting to Rs.129.31 crore at a growth rate of of 20.61%.
