India’s 12th Plan thermal power capacity addition may exceed target: Minister

December 16: The total thermal power capacity addition in 12th Five Year Plan (2012-17) is expected to exceed the target of 72,340 MW, Power Minister Piyush Goyal has said.

The target for thermal capacity addition in 12th Plan covering coal, lignite and gas based plants is 72,340 MW and against this, 47,163 MW has already been commissioned up to November, 2014.

“The total thermal capacity addition in 12th Plan is expected to exceed the target”, the minister said.
