India’s Jan power generation edges up 0.59% m-o-m

February 17: India’s power generation in January 2015 stood at 86.029 billion units (BU), up 0.04% from 85.995 BU generated in December 2014, according to provisional data from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).

Out of the total generation in January 2015, 75.898 BU (73 BU in January, 2014) were in the thermal sector, 6.911 BU (7.497 BU in January 2014) were in the hydro sector and 3.134 BU (3.150 BU in January 2014) in nuclear while imports from Bhutan stood at 0.086 BU (0.079 BU in January 2014).

However, out of the total generation in December, 76.137 BU (71.591 BU in December, 2013) were in the thermal sector, 7.094 BU (8.133 BU in December 2013) were in the hydro sector and 2.596 BU (3.079 BU in December 2013) in nuclear while imports from Bhutan stood at 0.168 BU (0.143 BU in December 2013).

During the first 10 months (April-January) of 2014-15, total power generation in India stood at 880.680 BU while the same stood at 805.838 BU during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
