India’s coal, coke imports down 11.9% in Apr m-o-m

May 11: India’s coal and coke imports decreased by 11.9% to 21,196,474 tons in April 2015, compared to 24,059,620 tons recorded in March, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports, however, were up 19.12% compared to 17,793,541 tons recorded for April 2014, the data showed.
Of the total imports in April 2015, coking coal imports were at 3,787,465 tons, non-coking coal at 16,102,893 tons, anthracite coal at 104,892 tons, PCI at 243,806 tons, met coke at 297,719 tons and pet coke at 659,699 tons.
On a month-on-month basis, coking coal imports in April 2015 were down 16.9%, while non-coking coal imports declined by 11.6%, the data revealed.
India’s total imports of coal and coke stood at 241,748,648 tons in 2014-15, against 181,582,737 tons a year ago.
