March 4: India's imported coal stocks at nine ports – eight major and one private –stood at 8.094 million tons (mt) as on February 27 against a volume of 8.195 mt as on February 20, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
The overall inventories of imported coal at Indian ports as on February 27 edged down as stocks at almost all the ports (monitored by ICMW) except Kolkata fell on a weekly basis.
After rising consistently for several weeks, coal stocks at Paradip Port fell slightly as on February 27 to 2.994 mt against a volume of 3.003 mt recorded on February 20. Of the total coal stocks at the port during the current week, steam coal’s share was at 1.666 mt while coking coal’s share was at 1.328 mt against a volume of 1.719 mt and 1.284 mt as on February 20.
Imported coal stocks at Mundra Port as on February 27 fell to 0.803 mt against a volume of 0.918 mt as on February 20. Of the total coal stocks of the port, coking coal fell to 0.134 mt as on February 27 from 0.143 mt as on February 20 while steam coal stocks at the port depleted to 0.669 mt on February 27 from 0.775 mt as on February 20.
Imported coal inventories at Kolkata Port rose to 0.701 mt in the week ended February 27 against a volume of 0.615 mt recorded on February 20. Of the total coal stocks at the port as on February 27, non-coking coal rose slightly to 0.444 mt against a volume of 0.426 mt recorded in the week ended February 20. Coking coal stocks at the port as on February 27 rose sharply to 0.257 mt against a volume of 0.189 mt as on February 20.
Imported coal inventories at Vizag Port remained at their previous level of 1.200 mt respectively.
