India’s imported coal stocks at 9 ports up w-o-w

February 11: India's imported coal stocks at nine ports – eight major and one private –stood at 8.176 million tons (mt) as on February 6, against a volume of 8.154 mt as of January 31, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

The overall inventories of imported coal at Indian ports as on February 6 edged up as coal stocks at all ports (monitored by ICMW) increased on a weekly basis.

As on February 6, coal stocks at Paradip Port increased slightly to 3.079 mt against a volume of 3.048 mt recorded on January 31. Of the total coal stocks at the port during the current week, steam coal’s share was at 1.735 mt while coking coal’s share was at 1.344 mt against a volume of 1.762 mt and 1.286 mt respectively as on January 31.

Imported coal stocks at Mundra Port fell slightly to 0.878 mt as on February 6 against a volume of 0.993 mt recorded on January 31. Of the total coal stocks at the port, coking coal fell significantly to 0.068 mt as on February 6 against a volume of 0.083 recorded as on January 31 while steam coal stood at 0.81 mt as on February 6 against 0.910 mt recorded on January 31.

Imported coal inventories at Kolkata Port dropped significantly to 0.615 mt as on February 6 from 0.789 mt reported in the week before. Of the total coal stocks of the port, non-coking coal was at 0.426 mt in the week under review, down from 0.420 mt in the previous week.

Coking coal stocks at the port stood at 0.189 mt, down from 0.363 mt in the week before.

Coal stocks at Vizag Port during the week ended February 6 remained at the same level as on January 31. As on January 31, coal stocks at the port stood at 1.200 mt.
