August 28: Spot steam coal prices continue to remain soft in international markets on lack of demand, particularly from India, amidst the continued fall in the rupee against the dollar, making imports expensive, industry sources said.
The continuous decline in the rupee against the dollar has prompted a large number of consumers to defer their imports, they added.
