A consortium of JSW Infrastructure Ltd and South West Port Ltd was awarded a project for mechanisation of EQ-1, 2 and 3 berths at Paradip Port on February 29, 2016, according to an official release.
The project would increase coal handling capacity from the existing 7.85 million tons (mt) to 30 mt.
The project envisages complete mechanisation of the EQ-1, 2 and 3 berths, including the receipt of thermal coal through the track hopper conveying to the stack yard and shipment through the ship loader using conveyors. The duration of completion of the project is about 4 years from the date of award.
