July shortfall in coal receipts by power utilities at 6.79 mt

August 20: Total shortfall in coal receipts by Indian power utilities during July 2014 stood at 6.79 million tons (mt), higher than the shortfall of 2.2 mt reported in June, according to provisional data made available to ICMW by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
In July 2014, total receipts stood at 42.61 mt while the requirement was 49.40 mt, the data revealed. Out of the total receipts in July, 31.71 mt came from domestic sources, namely Coal India Limited (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), while imported coal receipts stood at 7.587 mt. A volume of 3.310 mt came from other sources, as per the data.
In June, total receipts stood at 42.117 mt against the total requirement of 44.319 mt.
During June, out of the total receipts, 31.346 mt came from domestic sources, ie, CIL and SCCL, while imported coal receipts stood at 7.616 mt and 3.155 mt came from other sources, shows the data.
