Longer waiting period hampering Vizag Port cargo handling

September 1: Longer waiting period of vessels and traffic congestion is hampering cargo handling at Vizag Port, a senior official from the port told ICMW.

“Vessels carrying coal, iron ore and others are forced to wait outside for want of space and that is the reason cargo handling is suffering at the port for quite some time,” the official said.

He added that this traffic congestion has forced JSW Limited to shift to nearby Gangavaram Port for import of coking coal almost six months back.

However, he said the port hopes to resolve the issue soon.
