December 15: South African coal (6,000 Kcal/kg NAR) prices fell sharply on December 14 amidst low demand from India and other buyers and sufficient supplies, market sources.
With most of the Indian buyers well stocked and some of them virtually out of the market before the beginning of Christmas and New Year holidays, the decline in prices was along expected lines, they said.
Following are indicative prices of coal in various markets and indicative freight rates (Panamax vessels) on December 14:
