With participants gradually coming back after Christmas and the year-end holidays, some activity on the higher side was witnessed in South African and Australian steam coal prices on January 5, market sources said.
Deals were still not forthcoming as per expectation as buyers, particularly Indian companies, continue to remain well stocked, they said.
Following are the indicative prices of coal in various markets and indicative freight rates (Panamax vessels) on January 5:
